Jun 5 - first leg

By car ... first leg ... easy ... Cottage to Hemmingford.

It was a kind-of drizzly day, some wet roads but no rain.  It was an easy drive.  We hit a couple of construction spots but no significant delays until we got to the bridge past Valleyfield that was up ( lift bridge ) to accommodate a lake freighter.  That's the St. Lawrence Seaway.

We left at 8am and arrived around 5pm.  There were lots of stops in between; we weren't in a rush.

Sheila and Marvin came over at 6pm and the six of us had dinner -- ham, scalloped potatoes, peas -- a good English Meal !  We're ready !

We'll be taking Abby and Sandy-doggie over to Sheila's today, Friday, before noon.   We'll have to break the news to Abby that we're going away and she's not coming.  Whoops.  Did we forget to tell you ?  No doubt we're going to miss her more than she'll miss us ... She'll get lots of attention from Sheila and lots of walks with Marvin.

We checked-in online and that was not without issue.  The baggage charges for the bike are more than I  expected.  Now they levy an extra $50 for handling the bike.  I waited on hold for 1/2 hour to talk to someone and then they couldn't hear me.  I called back and waited 20 minutes, finally got someone and she told me that I should check in online, without bags, and let them handle it at the airport.  The charge is still more than I expected but the website was producing the wrong amount.

Ah well ...

It's going to be a long day ...

Onward !
