Three, count 'em, three full grown moose stepped out onto 522 2-3 miles from Osprey Road as I drove home last night. It was just before midnight.  I braked hard and came to a stop.  They seemed confused but once I blew my horn, they ambled off into the bush.  Yikes !!  Yikes !!!!  Hitting a moose generally totals a vehicle, but what about hitting three !!!!
Three rides ... 1,000 kms in the last week ... still don't think that I'm prepared based on the way that I was climbing yesterday.  I wish that I could throw away the 10 pound pack that I carry on my rack !
Here's the first -- Conestogo (yes, Conestogo, not Conestoga) Highlands 300k, a lovely ride through Hockley Valley and following the Grand River --

Then, last Sunday, three of us did the Carthew Bay 200, not as much climbing but lots of wind --

Yesterday's ride, the Lakes and Vines 300k, was the most scenic of the three, following the Grand River, riding along the shore of Lake Erie, following a canal (not the Welland) to Lake Ontario, up and down the Niagara Escarpment a few times --

Now I have to get my bike ready, pack, get in one more ride around here and then we leave for Hemmingford.  I know that the blogs will get more interesting once we're on the road and you don't have to read about me cutting the grass, bringing down firewood, watching TV ...
Onward !
