I went out fishing early and caught three bass, enough for dinner again. Of course the big one got away -- in this case it actually broke the hook, not the line. I almost got the net on it as the hook broke ... rats !
Heading home, Sandy met me at the dock to say that Jim had called. They were in Parry Sound, having gone home early the day before. It seems that Jim had something called TIA, which is a mini stroke.
I had noticed that he seemed a little off the day before and had attributed it to simply being fuzzy from being awakened from a snooze. Well, it was more than that and he went to the nursing station in Britt and then to Parry Sound for diagnosis and testing.
He was ok when I was talking to him on the phone and then later that day Bonnie said that he was out for a couple of walks but there's a risk of recurrence and/or a bigger stroke within 24-48 hours, so they're staying in Parry Sound through the weekend.
Of course I had to look this up -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transient_ischemic_attack -- and this certainly agrees with the symptoms that Jim was describing.
So that was the big news for the day.
I did go for a bike ride; my head is feeling better. Sandy seems to be coming down with it, unfortunately but not surprisingly. With me the symptoms are always compounded by allergies. Hopefully it won't hit her as hard.
What else ... that's about it. Busy day ? Well, not really, just that Jim's issue had made it seem more ... more something ! Hopefully the TIA has provided a non lasting early warning and will allow treatment to stave off something more serious.
... a reminder, yet again, that we're all getting older.
Onward ...
