Aug 20 - ignore the dang doppler

Il pleut.  Yes, it was time to ignore the doppler and get out for a ride anyway.  At the top of the hill looking south at the turnoff to Britt, I could see the heavy rain ahead.  I stopped, put on my jacket and shower cap, and rode on.  I turned on my light.  It poured but didn't last too long and then sprinkled occasionally to the turnaround and back home.  C'est la vie.

Before riding, I did some more tidy-up in the garage and decided that since everything was wet, I might as well burn the old nail-filled 2x4's etc. that were in the burn pile.  I got those started and hauled up all the spruce branches and tree-tops that I'd cut the day before.

Otherwise it was a pretty quiet day.  I'd hoped to go fishing in the morning, but that didn't happen in the rain.  It's raining again this morning, so I'm betting that I won't get out today either.  What a summer it's been, now almost over.

On the cooking front, we had pork loin, oven roasted potatoes and Sandy's nuked/sauteed broccoli.  It was also a bread-kind-of-day and we both made bread.  The day before, I finally got around to making my olive tapenade and hummus.  Doing both means that I only have to clean the food processor once.  They both turned out well.

I've got a 600k coming up on the weekend, starting at 6am in Markham.  At this point I'm planning on driving down in the wee hours but could change my mind and stay somewhere closer on Friday night; we'll see.  My chosen overnight spot on the ride is Minden, about 375kms into the ride.  The weather was originally predicted as dry for the entire weekend, now has progressed to 30% showers on Sunday.  Who knows.  I'll be prepared.

Onward !
