I spent a lot of yesterday back and forth on email and Facebook regarding the Sunshine 1200k. The interested list is building and I like the interaction that occurs on FB. John Preston suggested, and even put forward, a template for data collection but that simply captures names, not enthusiasm. Granted he is correct, data collection is a lot easier with an input form ...
I did spend some time exercising yesterday, watching TV and working on my shoulders with weights. The right shoulder has been bothering me and I want to see if exercise will strengthen the muscles and get me back to where I was last Spring. While I was down there, I swapped pedals on the Rando bike and installed new cleats on my shoes. They were getting sloppy, combination of the two.
The new cassette cleaned up the skipping that was happening on the VA 1000k. I'm pretty sure that the Natchez will feature longer hills and easier grades but still, skipping isn't good.
I'm having trouble with numbness in my toes again, right foot this time. I've got to get in to see a podiatrist once we're in Florida. Being a five-day ride, I'll have to pay attention during the Natchez and lift my feet more, keep the blood flowing.
It never rained yesterday, or at least not here. It would probably have been a good day for a ride. Today is the day. Naturally it's colder.
I talked to Bonnie; the first people were bidding too low. They might have another offer coming in ... time will tell. Jim is back from guiding; it was pretty cold and wet.
Jason left yesterday a.m., plans to be back up on Thursday. It's pretty quiet here, but then again, it's always quiet here !
The standby generator has been ordered. With any luck I'll have it installed and operational before heading south. I have no idea how I'm going to get it placed since it weighs close to 400 pounds and it is a bit bulky ... it's a job for four guys ... we'll see ... one guy and a dog ?
Onward ...
