Sep 19 - almost ready to roll

It was kind of a do-nothing day; that is except for working on hotels for the Sunshine 1200k.  I also finished off the top-n-bond concrete work at the entrance to the barn (had started that the day before) and worked out in the basement.

I'd packed my clothes for the trip the day before but I did a little bicycle cleaning and fussing.  There really wasn't much to do.  It was way too cold (for me) to get out on the bike -- well not really, but my heart wasn't into it, windy and cold. I did ride the fat tire bike to the near end of the road and back and put the windsurf board up on the rack.

Somehow the day went by.  Late in the day we headed to the Davies to visit with them and their friends up from Brantford.

Abby is getting used to the cone of shame, sort of.  She still runs into doorways and tries to push herself into spaces to narrow but she doesn't get startled when she hits something.  Sandy's plan is to take her into Parry Sound this coming week for yet another look at this thing.  We don't have any results back from the latest biopsy yet.

What else ... that's about it.

Wait, I did do something else.  We've booked a trip to Ecuador for March.  Does that sound like it's out of the blue ?  Well, Jason and Lo have a place for the month and we're going to visit them.  We're flying from Miami to Guayaquil, Ecuador's largest city, on Monday March 2nd and flying back on March 8th, which lands around 4am on the 9th.  Sheryl is going to look after Abby until the weekend and then Lisa will take over.  At least that's the plan ...

The place looks great.  You get a lot for your $'s in these countries.  Ecuador is quite the eco-destination.  Jason and Lo will get over to the Galapagos at one point in their trip; we won't.  Maybe next time ...

Upcoming schedule:
-- today, Saturday 20th, drive to Dick's in Sarnia
-- tomorrow, Sunday 21st, drive to Ken's in Monroe OH
-- Monday 22nd, drive to Nashville TN
-- Tuesday 23rd, start Natchez Trace 1500k ride
-- Tuesday 23rd through Saturday 27th, ride the Natchez
-- Sunday 28th, start drive home, overnight somewhere on the road
-- Monday 29th, stop in Niagara Falls (cold weather kit for generator waiting for me at Home Depot)
-- Monday, dentist appointment in Oakville on the way north
-- Monday, back to the cottage.

Hmm.  I just checked the driving distance and it's 10.5 hours from Nashville to Niagara Falls.  In that case I expect that I'll get to Home Depot before it closes that night and be across the border.  My appointment at the dentist is at 2:10 so I'll have some time to kill if that's the way that it works out.   I may call them to see if there's anything earlier in the day.

Onward ... southward !
