Oct 26 - trimming and weeding

I trimmed the mangroves; Sandy trimmed some bushes and did a bunch of weeding.  Today is yard trash day and we have a pile by the curb.

Actually everything is looking pretty good.  I mostly leveled the mangroves; had already trimmed a couple of trees right after we arrives as well as the front bushes; Sandy took care of the benjamini and hibiscus and numerous other bushes in the back garden and then tackled weeding, which went quickly due to the thick pine needle mulch that she put down last year.

There's always more to do but at this point it looks tended.

Chet and Jean are back and I chatted with Chet for a bit.  Harris was originally going to do a 200k with me today but since Debbie isn't available to help if he needs to bail, we're going to do a shorter ride on Wednesday instead.  I'm still going to do the 200k, need one before the end of October to keep up my R12 string.

I did some garage organization, putting up a bar to hang bicycle wheels and getting other bike stuff put away.  The fat tire bike is in front of the car right now but I've ordered ceiling hangers for it.  Jason is using them up north.

I also researched US Passport renewals and will be doing that this week, I hope.  Sandy's expires a couple of years after mine, which has already expired, but we might do them together.  We can do an in-person doc's check at a post office in Port Orange which means that we won't have to send existing passports away.  I think that we'll also order the new passport cards which are perfect for car travel in and out of the U.S. (also sea travel but we won't be doing that !).

It was catch-up day for other online stuff -- car and trailer licenses, which expire in December and financials etc.

We went over to the SYC for a drink around 4pm, hung out there for an hour.  It was doggie dress-up day and a few pooches were in evidence, dressed up for Halloween.  Normally dogs aren't allowed.  Rose was back at work; she'd been off for months after a car accident.  It was good to see her but as it was busy, she didn't have time for much more than "hello".  We plan to go over mid-week for dinner which will use up our October allotment.

What else ... not much ... just another beautiful day.

I see that the upcoming week is crummy up north.  Mixed precipitation and one day a high of 1C ... 34F.   Speaking of which, we talked about our Christmas trip which will probably see us traveling north to be there the 13th/14th weekend and then returning the weekend after New Year's.  That's only 6 weeks from now, give or take ?  Amazing !

Onward !  Time for breakfast if I'm going to hit the road before 7am.  Yes, it will be dark but I do have lights.
