I woke Sandy up at 6:15 and we headed to the beach. Why, you ask ? Because the Orion was supposed to launch.
We got there and were able to watch NASA TV on our phones (isn't technology great) so we could see the rocket sitting on the launch pad, we could get the message that there was a boat in the prohibited zone that caused the first delay, a wind event that caused the second delay, a valve issue that created another hold ... etc. Eventually we headed home because the launch time was going to be, perhaps, sometime before 9:45 or something like that.
Well, it didn't happen. It was rescheduled for today, and we'll be there ! (unless it gets deferred in the next half-hour.
Cars lined the causeway for a long time -- during the shuttle launches the police would shoo them all away, as it's hazardous to have all those pedestrians on the causeway -- but I guess they were feeling generous yesterday because people were there through 9am and later. It was a nice day to stand around.
I had my usual early lunch and then went for a ride ... a ride into Orlando to do some shopping. Sandy had an appointment at the dermatologist to have a thing removed from her back. It was one of those lumps of gunk, so to speak, like a cyst, smaller than a penny but an irritant as it was right along her backbone. She's now got a couple of stitches that I'll have to remove in a couple of weeks because we'll be at the cottage.
The day stayed beautiful, temps in the high 70's, registering over 80 in Orlando. That's a far cry from what we'll see as we head north next week. That schedule is still up in the air. I've got a Randonneurs Ontario conference call that's sort of in the way.
I talked to the dentist about my work coming up on the 16th. They really want the model that they did that I left at the cottage, so we have to go there first and I have to make a trip to Toronto. Great. That was the plan but we were thinking that perhaps we could simply hit the dentist on the way north. No such luck.
Onward ? Time to have some breakfast if we're going to see that launch.
