Chronicling this virus progression, Sandy probably peaked -- or would that be hit the low point ? -- on Wednesday, and for me that would be yesterday, Thursday. All I have to do is see how she is today to predict how I might be tomorrow ... ?? Interesting.
I can hear her downstairs coughing. Mine is mostly in my throat right now so perhaps I'll be coughing later ?
If ... and that's a big IF at this point, I go to Gainesville for the 200k, that could throw this all off. That could speed up the progression or set me back, hard to say. The overnight in Gainesville tonight is predicted to be 35F at last check, which definitely means frost in the burbs. Breathing the cold damp air usually clears your head but the rebound afterwards can be plus or minus.
Oh well, c'est la vie.
Other than grilling pork loin, I don't remember even going out yesterday ... oh yes, I got the paper off the driveway :).
Sandy ordered a piece of furniture from a store in NYC and then called to followup, since we hadn't seen any shipping notice. Apparently they'd sent an email to us that we hadn't received and they resent it, asking for us to sign the invoice and credit card receipt, scan and send back along with copy of credit card and driver's license.
No. Gimme a break !
So I called the guy and he said that they'd been scammed before by people taking delivery and then refusing to pay via their credit card company. In NY and NJ it wasn't a problem because the delivery truck would collect a signature but further out, the delivery is handed off to another shipper and they lose that wet signature.
He completely understood that I wouldn't want to send or fax ID or, indeed, the credit card but was quite happy if we sent those items with key items blanked out. Ok, said I, that works for me. He simply needed to see a signature on the invoice etc. accompanied by proof that it's her card and address.
So Sandy signed the two documents and I scanned the front side of her Amex and Driver's License, then using one of the Photoshop tools, blanked out all but the last 4 digits of the CC number and the security code, the driver's license number and birthdate. I then emailed it all to him and we're good to go. We should see this wall unit for the living room late next week, hopefully.
I've still got 20 people or so who haven't finalized their Sunshine 1200k registrations and just sent them a "pay up or else" email. In this case, the "or else" is that I'll simply open up the slots to all comers on a first-come, first served basis. They have until the end of tomorrow. We'll see where we stand after the weekend.
Onward ...
