Feb 5 - wall unit

I was hoping to get out early so that I'd be home when the wall unit was delivered ... but it was raining.  Ugh.

The unit was delivered on time, just after 1pm and I then spent all of the next 5 hours working on it.  It was packed in an incredible pile of cardboard, layers and layers and layers, now standing almost four feet high in the garage.  Add to that two huge bags of styrofoam and an incredible amount of dust ... ugh ugh ugh.

Oh yes, and three shipping skids/pallets are standing on edge outside beside the garage.  I'm not through with the cleanup, as these must be dismantled (with a saw, likely) for the garbage.

The unit itself and the original packaging is supposed to weigh 400 pounds.  With the skids and all the excess cardboard, all shrink wrapped together, there's bound to be at least 200 pounds more.  What a mess !

Now we have to finish cleaning it up (lots of glass), install the TV and accessories and then Sandy has to start to adorn the shelves.  It is huge, 111" wide and 60" or so high.  Centered on that wall in the living room it still leaves 3-4 feet on either side and of course the ceiling is another eight feet up ... so Sandy needs something large on the wall above it to complete the picture.

Sandy, meanwhile, was in Orlando shopping.  She had the outlet mall and Costco on her list, shopping with Sheryl.  I'd given her my Costco list.  She didn't get to Costco.  Apparently she bought a bunch of clothes and Sheryl bought a raincoat.  Nobody bought Jim or me anything.  I haven't updated my Amex yet.

I heard from Terry Shuya who is taking me up on my invitation to do the Boca Raton 300k with me.  He'll arrive tonight around dinner time and then we'll leave here at 2:30 a.m. to get there at 5:30 a.m. to start the ride at 6:30 a.m. to finish around 9:00 p.m. and get back here at midnight.  Does that sound like fun ?  At least it's going to be much warmer than the 200k last weekend.

Terry is from Saskatoon but lives in Jacksonville.

The wind has been blowing like crazy all night long.  We've got waves coming towards us on the Intracoastal Waterway, which means a strong east wind.  The waves on the ocean must be HUGE.  It would be worth a trip over to see the action.

What else ... that's about it.

We've got a busy weekend planned, hoping to get out in the boat on Sunday.  It will likely be cool on the water, which is hovering around 60F.

Onward.
