Hot and windy, yes. Jerry and I headed south for the usual ride onto Merritt Island, over to Titusville and north on US 1. It was a great day to be on the bike, especially on the trip back with a tail-wind !
Otherwise not much was happening. I caught up on some email, paid bills etc. Sandy picked up steak for dinner from Publix ... never the best but ok.
I'm waiting for the last items to arrive for my new bike build. The fork, stem and seatpost have been shipped and are due to arrive. I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to do the build, perhaps next week once Jerry leaves.
Sandy has two flying trips booked now -- one to Reading to help Sara while Jeffrey goes to a business function in Punta Cana and one to Burlington VT, being picked up by Sheryl to go to a memorial service in the PQ Eastern Townships for her aunt Kay, who passed away a couple of days ago and cousin Deryl. Kay turned 100 in November and we attended her party during the summer with Emma and Zoe in tow. Deryl was at the party too but he'd been battling cancer for many years. Perhaps extraordinary measures could have helped Aunt Kay hang on for a while longer but it was her wish to not resort to those measures. Her heart was giving out and she had fluid building in her lungs.
I feel bad that I can't go to the memorial service, but it's being held Victoria Day Weekend, also known as Sunshine 1200k weekend. Sandy being gone is going to make this an order of magnitude more difficult, since I'm gone for almost a week and Abby has to be taken care of. The ride passes right through here and I was kinda hoping that she could help coordinate some aspects. Oh well. Somehow I'll manage this although no-one is putting up their hand from the cycling community to help with anything other than during the ride itself.
Whatever.
Today, more riding. Onward !
