Well, not quite. The 9th was driving TO Reading; the 10th was IN Reading and the 12th, today, will be driving back.
The drive down was uneventful, other than Zoe was more fussy than the trip up. That was to be expected, really, as we did the whole drive in one shot. On the way north, we'd stopped at the Davies in Brantford, seems like a lifetime ago !
Here in Reading, I did a couple of errands, picking up a couple of things at Lowes (aluminum strip) and Giant (chicken soup, snapple). Sandy did her errand at the drug store. The rest of the day we mostly hung out (of course that meant that I took a nap for part of the time), and got organized for the trip back. The trailer is all packed and ready; packing the car will simply be loading a bag each (me, Sandy, Emma, Abby) and we'll be ready to roll.
Speaking of rolling, I'm hoping that will be asap after 7am but more realistically asap after 8am. Sigh.
We went to dinner at the neatest restaurant last night, Captain's Spring Restaurant and Bar on Hill Road here in Reading. It was perfect for the kids too as they could do a little roaming around the table as we ate outside.
Back at the ranch, the kids in bed, at least two adults headed to bed as well --Sandy and me.
I'm typing this on my new laptop. It's an ASUS ZenBook. No spinning hard drive (SSD only), no DVD drive, lightweight, nice bright display, purportedly 10 hours battery life (we'll see), and W7 pre-loaded. So far so good. It's got three USB ports, an HDMI port, a SD card slot (great for extra storage), etc. It cost half of what my old Macbook did, which you can expect with the passage of time in electronics, but was still half of what a new Macbook would cost - same order of magnitude as Sandy's new iPad. For me, a real keyboard is a must, and this fills the bill.
Onward ...
