It's about 1:30 p.m. Breakfast is over. Mass is over. I wish that I'd have had the nerve to take some pictures in the church. Whitewashed concrete with tall, tall trees, hardly even prepped, as pillars. Old ? Not so much. Young ? Recent construction ? Well, not that recent given the neigbourhood, sort of old-world new, if you will.
On the way back, I filled up the tank and stopped at a market, wanting to get salad, i.e. green salad, but no luck. It was a wonderful market and I could have bought lots of greens but there were no deli-type, pre-made green salads. I did buy some fresh pate, an avocado and a salad de mer (calamari, shrimp, mussels etc. in oil). Notice no bread. So, so tempting !
I head out from here around 7:15-7:30 tonight with a scheduled 8pm departure time. I have no idea how well organized this will be; whether they'll be running on time. I sure hope so as I don't want to stand around for hours.
SPOT will be on -- http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=05ndnEHBc2PPuiqK3GtxQ4oTrqbNBZ7YM
The PBP website provides Control-to-Control status -- http://suivi.paris-brest-paris.org/T003.html
T003 is my frame number (T isn't for Thompson, it's the departure group), and the site also lets you look up people by name, I believe. Nothing shows up until I cross the first line, which will be the start, and my "chip" registers.
Sandy just went out for a walk; I should really have a snooze. Before that, I'll go downstairs and do a little last minute bike check and tuning. I've already prepped my drop bag, but of course everything will be with Sandy in the car. Having things organized into a drop bag makes it more convenient. I will get my luggage into the car before heading out for the ride.
What else ... I don't know. Waiting to start these things is sometimes the hardest part.
Brest-ward !
