Oct 13 - frustrated

What's happening ?  I don't know.  We've been trying to get hold of the puppy lady without any luck.  We don't know whether our travel plans are going to work or not.  Should we close up or not ?  Don't know.  I do think that we'll drive to Shelburne on the off chance that there's someone home and we can figure this out.  I hate dealing with people who don't return phone calls.  Grrr.

Yesterday.  I did a few things outside but it rained on and off most of the day, never heavy but it rained.  I did install a motion activated light up at the barn and put bulbs in the one at the garage.  It's something that I've been meaning to do anyway.

While I was finishing up at the barn, Alex and Al, his hunting buddy, dropped in.  They didn't fancy sitting in the bush in the rain.  The deer don't move then anyway.  They visited for a short time and then headed back to Loring -- to do what, I don't know.  Al is a former fireman; not sure from what city; I didn't ask.

I haven't really had a chance to play with the sensitivity and timing of the new light.  I couldn't tell during the day whether it was working properly or not, assuming quite rightly as it turns out, that it won't stay on during the day.  I took a walk up there after dark and the garage turned on for 5+ minutes; the barn for 20.  I'd have to be here a few more nights if I wanted to do any adjustments, since it's trial and error.

The little dock is now in place, tied to the big one, as usual.  David drove the Whaler to the landing and we loaded it onto the trailer; it's now in the barn.  The chain saw and weed whacker are in the basement.  I've still got a lot on my list; last minute stuff; not sure if I should do it !

We have dentist cleaning appointments on Tuesday the 20th; if we can get hold of the puppy lady, we'd pick up the puppy that afternoon and head to Florida on the 21st, but that's questionable until we talk to her.

Sandy finished up laundry and cleaning; she's mostly ready.

We had a couple of burgers from the freezer for dinner -- meat only -- and broccoli.  Sandy has mostly emptied the upstairs fridge, moving stuff downstairs to the fridge and freezer.  We turn the upstairs one off when we leave.

I'm sure that there's more.  I was up at 2:30; couldn't sleep.  Even the TV wouldn't put me to sleep, which is unusual.  Not even BBC.  Of course now I'm drinking coffee, so it's not going to happen.

Onward, I hope.  At this point I can see us back up here next week, but who knows.
