"Your dog was a beast today" -- this from Sandy; she's my dog when she doesn't listen :).
I was out riding; Cassie was being a beast. She loves to go down to the edge of the mangroves out front, into the mud. She wouldn't come to Sandy; Debbie had to come over and help. Yes we must cure her of that. Abby loved mud too - chewing sticks, even chunks of dirt, for their smells and taste. She'll grow out of that but we have to keep her out of there because she certainly could make herself sick. I guess it's time for yet another decorative fence ... now between us and Chet and around the gardens; fences are us ! Only one foot high, it's a good training tool.
Not only did she want to be in the mud, apparently she was always going to the door to go out and, you guessed it, go down to the mangroves.
It was a busy day. First thing, I went to the bank to withdraw cash for the boat purchase. I'm not used to dealing in more cash than I can take out of the ATM !
Oh yes, even before the bank, I took Cassie for a walk. She's getting better at being on leash. She's always more eager to head home, however, than outbound.
Next, straight to see Kim, the hearing aid lady. I don't wear them very often but did try to use them on the way south and the left one didn't work. I thought perhaps that she could do a reset or something; perhaps I was doing something wrong. Nope. It's dead. However, wonder of wonders, it's still on warranty ! I didn't realize that I had three years; thought only two, but that was for loss or damage. Great ! I'll have the replacement back early next week.
Organize to ride and out the door; but have some lunch first. Yes, it was early but that's what I do when I'm riding.
It was hot; mid 80's. It's hotter now than it was in May; summer hot; very unusual. The wind was from the south again, typical when it's this hot. The SE wind isn't totally favorable heading home but it was ok. I had a good ride.
Home about 3:30; Cassie was home alone, in her kennel. I let her out and then had a shower. I called Sandy to let her know that I was heading out to get the boat but then realized that she had the SUV. I wasn't picking up the boat with the sedan ! However, she was just on Canal street getting a pedicure, so I went and swapped cars and then came back home to get Cassie who I'd put back in her kennel in the meantime. She's totally used to the kennel now and doesn't complain.
Off to Ormond Beach, Cassie and I, we found Ed prepping the boat for travel. We put a number of items in the back of the car that might have blown away and ensured that everything was tied down, then signed all the paperwork and I was on my way. The boat/trailer behaved itself on its I95 trip home. I don't know total weight but there must be 100 pounds on the tongue; I cannot lift it. Tongue weight is a good thing.
Now I have work to do to get rid of the little Whaler. I did talk to Ralph first thing in the morning and he said that the gear spinning up should be correctable with a little oil. Ok, I'll try that this morning and see how it goes. He will drop by later in the week if that doesn't do the trick. I had tried oil last year but perhaps I used the wrong weight. He said "no grease, lightweight oil". Ok. Then perhaps I should take the boat to Mark atthe marina to see whether he's interested or not. If I take a few pictures I can put it on Craigslist.
I want to minimize the time that I've got a boat parked in the driveway !
The lionfish for dinner was great. Lionfish and green beans. Mmmm.
Another day was done. DVD ripping is still underway, now onto another series. I've got a few other DVD's stashed here that I need to rip as well as my Dad's videos that I put onto DVD a few years ago.
Onward !
