Feb 11 - busy day

Into Altamonte Springs (northern Orlando suburb) we went to look at pavers.  I think that Sandy has settled on what she wants for the backyard and driveway.  We now have to confirm that with Shane.  Further east on 436 was the outdoors store where we looked at, and purchased, hiking boots.  Now we'll wear them around the house a bit to ensure that they do fit, in case we want to return them.  Hiking boots, of course, are for Kilimanjaro.  It's all pretty far off but it's time for us to commit, or not.

Back home for lunch, we did some bush trimming out front where it was warm and sunny.  In the back it was sunny, windy and cool; a great drying day for sheets and Sandy took advantage of that.  Next we went to the optometrist where I picked out new all-day glasses and also ordered new lenses for my sunglasses, which are a couple of prescriptions older.  They (Sandy and the optometrist) convinced me that my cycling glasses aren't geeky ... so I'll keep those for now ... perhaps next year.

Back home again, we soon headed for Sheryl and Jim's rental for dinner.  Oh yes, Cassie had a walk in the interim.  It took us longer to get to dinner than expected because we stopped at Jessica's house.  Jessica, Sandy's trainer, has been MIA.  Kelly from the gym was at the house, looking after Jessica's dog, and filled Sandy in on what's been happening.  Long story short, Jessica has had a nervous breakdown and is in a local hospital.

There's a lot more to the story but it doesn't belong in my blog.  Suffice it to say that we're hoping she can recover quickly !

I heard from Ched Miller, Raytheon, who is going to be in the area with his wife Elaine on March 1.  It looks like we'll be able to have dinner with them prior to Jeffrey and Sara arriving.   We also heard from David, thinking about coming down and Carol and Al regarding their travel-through-and-stay plans.

Today's weather is supposed to be a warm interlude, so my plan is to ride.  On Monday I've got the 300k pre-ride out of Tavares, so that will likely be my next outing after today.

Onward !
