I paid the price for taking Cassie out on the nicest day, grinding north into a 20+mph wind and then too spent to really take full advantage of it on the way south. It was a good ride though, sunny and so-so cool, light PI jacket weather.
I had taken Cassie out for a walk before the ride and soon after, Jim and Sheryl dropped in to do some copying and faxing. Jim was sending along some blood tests to his doctor; Sheryl some documents for the work on Donald's estate. When I left the fax was re-dialing for the third time; I figured that she was going to have to try Staples, but Sandy said that it eventually went through. My preference for sending documents is via email but that's not secure for this sort of thing.
I've been hitting the gym every morning, working on abs, lower back, shoulders etc. using the machines in the front room of the Smyrna Athletic Club (SAC). The middle room has a lot of free weights; the Canal-facing room all the treadmills etc. Certain exercises are working well for me, others bother my rotator-cuff-issue shoulder, so the machines are less likely to irritate it. The weights are on the way up, so it's working. I'd do better with a trainer but this way I'm in and out of there quickly. I usually work my way through 6-8 machines doing reps on each and three full rotations; takes me 20-30 minutes.
We were originally going to hit the SYC brunch on Sunday with Sheryl, Jim, Brian and Melanie but Paul checked with me to see if we could do the 400k pre-ride on that day. Sheryl checked with B&M and that works, so we've bumped them one week. Doing the 400k this weekend is a good thing because it's then out of the way; the actual event is scheduled for when Jeffrey and Sara are here.
So ... 28th brunch, Ched Miller dinner on 1st, J&S arriving soon afterwards that day. Depending on the weather, we may take Ched and Elaine boating; we'll see. As you can see from the sidebar, we've got a lot planned. Hidden between the lines is the fact that on Easter weekend while David is here, that group doing the Fleche with me has a sleep-over on the Thursday night -- Jim Solanick, Paul Rozelle, Melanie and Wayne -- it all works out. We'll be pressing every bed into service. Sandy will be washing a lot of sheets since Kim and Megan arrive right afterwards.
I'll have to look into renting a motorcycle for David when he's here. I remember that they did rent from the Ormond Beach HD dealership, but that's a ways away. It would be better if I could rent locally. I'd like to explore some of the cycling routes on a powered cycle !
Let's see ... I hope to get out on the boat again today with Cassie ... if it's warm enough perhaps Sandy will come out.
Next week I have a couple of appointments -- teeth cleaning and podiatrist -- the first routine and the second still trying to see what can be done to improve walking and cycling comfort.
Onward !
