Feb 23 - forever behind ?

Yesterday ... today ... why am I behind ?

Some bling arrived the mail -- rando bling --

I ordered one of these the first year that I got 10,000 km in RUSA events, 2012, but not in 2013 or 2014 although I was well over 10k each of those years as well.  This one, however, is special because it has the Sunshine 1200k logo as well as Dan Driscoll engraving "organizer" under that.  Great memories !

RUSA counts events under its wing for its awards which does not include rides outside of the US (such as those in Canada) but does, as of late, include 1200k rides done elsewhere.  Originally they would only include PBP but bowed to pressure from riders and now include all 1200k rides.

Yesterday, however, was a recovery day, not a riding today.  Likewise today is a recovery day.  I might be riding except that we've got 25+mph winds howling out there and BIG rain on the way.  I'm not just exaggerating about the howling either - I can hear it loud and clear as I sit here typing.

We did take Cassie over to Disappearing Island yesterday with the Skiff.  As usual she had a blast chasing the ball thrown with the Chuck-It.  Tonight she, and I, got back to school, session 6 of 7.

We made a run to Total Wine, an outlet in Daytona roughly across from the Speedway, and I picked up some more wine samples as well as a case of Guigal Cotes du Rhone 2010 at a reasonable price -- 12.99 per bottle.  I had a couple of these left from Costco, having bought two cases there two years ago at $10 per bottle.  Oh well, I can only store so much.

Sort of on the way back, we stopped at West Marine so that Sandy could pick up a Kayak Paddle, same as the one that she now has up north.  Of course we need two of everything !  She's going to get out in one of the SYC kayaks.

Still sort of on the way back, we stopped beachside to pick up tickets to Giselle, the ballet, for Friday night. I'm going to go as well.  Cassie will stay home :).

I've been hitting the gym most mornings and feel better as a result.  The upper body exercise is good for me.  At the lower end, my foot is the same of course, but I have an appointment with a podiatrist tomorrow a.m.  I just got back from using the Harley to run over and pick up all the forms that need to be completed prior to that visit.

Onward ?  Sure ...
