Inevitably the last day comes and goes. We went up to Daytona for Bike Week; Emma and I cruised Main Street while the gang walked, covering just as much distance in that time. Cruising is a misnomer -- inched along Main Street is more appropriate.
We got a few smiles, thumbs up and waives -- Emma was definitely the youngest rider on Main Street !
Afterwards, Jeffrey and Sara went off to see the show that they'd missed the day before and I took Emma over to Jim and Sheryl's rental; Emma joined Sheryl in the pool. Back home, Ella came over and spent the last time with Emma. The Play-Doh has gotten a lot of use.
The kids ate relatively early; the adults had crabcakes; Emma tackled the homework that she was supposed to do while she missed school. In that she was better than her father -- he always carried all his school books on ski vacations at this time of year and never quite got to the homework.
Up before 4am, they hit the road at 4:40. I changed my shorts to head to the gym ... whoops, my car keys aren't on the hook but Jeffrey's are ! I called him and they came back, not far away yet. I was sure that they had my keys and then found them in the car ... whoops again ! I'd left them there after the swimming trip with Emma. Duh.
Oh well, it's lucky that I hadn't simply found them in the car, kicked myself and headed out. Sara's keys for the Routan have been lost so they'd have gotten to the airport without any car keys. They only lost 5 minutes as we looked for mine plus the 10 minutes coming back. They had some cushion so they should be ok.
It's a lot easier getting out of here with he car door just a few feet from the house door, vs the cottage up the hill in the snow !
It will be a quiet day; always a letdown after kids and grandkids leave, whether here or at the cottage. Cassie will likely sleep all day.
Sheryl still has her cold/flu. Mine is worse today but I'm going out on the bike anyway -- the quiet bike that is.
Onward !
