The highlight of the day was definitely Surfscape Dance / Pink Floyd The Wall, with Debbie & Harris & Marda. It was excellent. Before that we had dinner at Thai Mango, always good.
I've got the hotels booked for the Miglia now and late yesterday and into this a.m., the bicycle routing for my Sunday / Monday 600k. We took Cassie for a short ride to the South Causeway sandbar so that she could run and swim; Sandy and Marda decided to stay in the boat. It is pretty muddy.
Gene next door was getting his boat ready to take out of the water, got the motor running and then discovered that his steering was frozen. I had happened to be over there seeing how he was doing when he made that discovery and, having dealt with that before with the little Whaler here in Florida, I helped him get it freed up. We took the boat out for a spin -- literally that's about it because we only went 100' into our little lagoon -- and then back onto the hoist. The plan is now to get it out of the water onto my trailer and sell the two as a package. He has a prospective buyer who hasn't seen the boat yet. It's definitely easier to sell if a) the motor runs, b) the steering works and c) it's cleaned up. A little power washing will do wonders.
Because I spent time helping Gene, we were a little late going out with the Skiff and could only get as far as the local sandbar. Oh well. Our plan today is to take the Hydra Sport out and perhaps go out into the ocean and watch some of the Lipton Cup race that's taking place this weekend. The yacht club was hopping last night and there are many more sailboats tied up than usual.
The weather is supposed to be hot for my ride so I'll get the fenders off and prep the bike for a long ride. As for me, either I'm always prepped or never, depending on your point of view.
Onward !
