Whew -
That's about it -- headed to Barrie on the 30th after an early dinner; rode from 6am the next a.m. until 4:28 the next day, hopped in the car and drove back north (stopped for a half-hour snooze along the way), caught a one hour nap up north, and here I am back in Barrie after yet another early dinner. I'll get a little sleep tonight prior to our 5am departure on the Cottage Country 600k ride that stops overnight at our cottage ! thanks to Sandy.
We lost a few today. Peter due to persistent stomach bug; Brian IT Band issues, Michel ... haven't heard why yet.
Heck, after my ride yesterday, I'm not all that keen either ! Windy, long and then very cold. I didn't expect it to get down to 5C. I was dressed more for 10C overnight and I didn't really expect to ride through most of the night !
So my new route Barrie => Stratford had lots of gravel; lots of gravel; felt like 50k of gravel but was probably only half that. A road that Google thinks is there, isn't. A hole in the fence solved that problem.
I was nicely on target to finish by 3am, having ridden all day by myself or rather in sight of David Pearson & Michel Hebert but not riding together, if you know what I mean, i.e. no drafting. I was so cold that I thought I was going to get hypothermia, but when I was stopped, I was warm. The problem was that my light jacket just couldn't deal with those temps, didn't provide enough insualtion. As a result, I had to stop a lot and ride slowly. I looked forward to the uphills and dreaded the downhills !
