If we lived here full time; if we had a crowd here full time ...
The house is certainly functional but it does make you think ... what could / should we have done differently ?
Well, from a construction standpoint ...
-- the living room could have been a couple of feet deeper
-- the roof overhangs should have been at least 2', not 1'
-- the windows in the basement should have been lower
-- we might have done something different with the bedrooms upstairs ... perhaps we could have had four in the same space
-- the laundry room needed to be just a few inches wider so that the washer and dryer would fit between the posts
-- the utility room in the basement could have been a tad larger
-- the darkroom ... had I used it as a darkroom ... would have been perfect, but I don't. The sink is useful and the counter, that same space could be reorganized
-- I'd have to think some more about tweaks
No, we're not doing this again ! We did pretty well, considering.
If we had a gang here all the time -- that's when an extra bedroom or two would have been great. We could have used two dishwashers or at least had a separate glassware dishwasher. This one dishwasher is being run three times per day right now.
This whole thing would be a matter of making a list. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to test out your design in practice and un-do construction !

Another day with the gang is done. We had two fewer for most of the day though as Jeffrey wanted Sara's constant headache checked out, so they went to Parry Sound. They didn't get home until 10pm, which isn't surprising on the big summer holiday weekend. As the doctor explained to Jeffrey, the population of PS is 6,000 and swells to 46,000 this summer weekend. Guess what -- some people need to go to the hospital. I haven't heard what they came back with other than that relayed by Emma who talked to Sara as they were coming back that she was ok. I know from Facebook that her blood pressure was elevated but that could be as a result of the headache -- what's cause and what's effect in that case would be TBD. No doubt I'll hear more shortly.
We went to Lost Channel -- a gang -- me, Kylie & Chris, David & Vanda, Cassie and Lauren, Emma and Zoe. I did get Vanda out on the water skis and Lauren & Emma out on the tube. More fun was had with the Merc 25. It was quiet next door as they went to Dwyer's cottage for the day. Stef and Aaron got some use out of the SUP board. The kayaks got some more exercise too. It was another day in paradise, from a weather standpoint, albeit a bit windy so Stef found it a bit challenging on the board. I'd recommended that she try the bay across the lake, which she did, but then got mobbed by horseflies.
I must have done more myself but don't remember !
Onward !
