For a very short time, only Cassie and I were here at the cottage. Kim and Chilly had left the day before. Sandy and Marda left mid-morning.
I got out the pressure washer and gave the deck a light going-over. It took some doing to get it started and of course before that, I had to get the lake water pump going, but by mid afternoon, that job was finished.
When we went fishing, it was in a dense fog. I really didn't expect much and my expectations were met. The fog eventually lifted, but not until I was back home. That cloud stayed in place until 4pm when the sun finally broke through. "Partly cloudy" can sure mean a lot of things !
I saw Stan's car in their driveway, heard afterwards from Kim that he'd been over to their place to connect to the internet. She had to help him get setup.
Jason, Lorraine, Kim and Chilly arrived around 5:30. Considering that they had just gotten back from Europe the day before, that was quick! I guess that they were up around 5am, their body clocks still on Barcelona time, did laundry, watered the grass and flowers, packed up and left. They are staying until Monday.
A short while before that, I'd heard from Sandy that she and Joyce were in Parry Sound. Her ETA was going to be 7pm. Shortly after 7pm, we were all in the gazebo for wine, beer, water and conversation.
Cassie was happy, but then Cassie is usually happy. She and Chilly were in the gazebo barking at the huge inflatable ride-on-top swan that was tied to Jason's dock. That's one of four that they brought back from Florida. Kim had left it in the kitchen at Jason's; I don't know how she got it through the doorway !
Sandy brought back an already cooked chicken from Sobeys. It was ok. We had a late dinner, because we were in the gazebo until well after 8pm.
Another day was done.
Oh yes, earlier in the day I'd closed both suitcases to see where I stood weight-wise. The bike weighed in under 40 pounds; the bike box with clothes, at 49. Oh oh. I took some tools etc. out of the clothes bag/box and now they're both at 44. I've got a few more things to pack but I'm almost there. I could easily put a few things into another carry-on or my backpack, if I had to. I'm trying to get away with just the three bags -- checking the two bike bags and carrying the backpack.
This time I'll bring the suitcase scale with me rather than having to judge weight by feel.
In a couple of hours I'll be able to do online check-in; my flight is at 8-something. I will leave for Toronto this afternoon. I'm staying at the airport Comfort Inn, where my car will be parked for the week that I'm away.
Onward ...
