Sandy went to Sudbury for groceries and misc shopping. She was gone for most of the day.
I went to 522 on foot with the crazy dog. It's about 3km each way, so total 6km. Cassie probably went 18. She'd race ahead 30-50 meters; I'd call her; she'd race back, then ahead, then back ... you get the idea. I'd call her to the side of the road and, pointing at the bush, say "what is it?" and she'd jump into the snow, much deeper than she is tall, work her way forward and back. Yes, she got a lot of exercise.
My goal was to do some walking in the cold weather on uneven ground with my hiking boots. They worked. I've got thick wool cycling socks that are perfect, much more comfortable than the wool hiking socks that I bought and may never wear after the first time. The cycling socks are higher than the boot, which is all I need. My feet stayed warm even though it was about 15F when I started and a little over 20F when we finished.
Sandy gave her boots a bit of a wear test as well, as she had them on going to Sudbury.
Later, I went out on the lake with Cassie so she could race around. There's a lot of slush under the layer of snow, especially close to the shore, however that top layer of snow is being blown off and the slush is freezing into an ice layer. Hopefully that process will continue and the kids will be able to play out there. It's good and solid now with a couple of layers and another week should help immensely.
I did make a decision on the snow blower, getting one from Home Hardware in town. Hopefully they'll be able to deliver it ! We got another couple of inches of snow yesterday.
Onward ...
