Feb 2 - on to Ngorogoro caldera

Yesterday was somewhat of a travel day but our guide took us the scenic route and we saw lots of predators and prey.  Antelope of various sorts in huge numbers, more millions of wildebeast, a cheetah sitting up in the grass (you can't see them lying down !), a pair of lions by the road resting after going at it; no doubt.  Apparently lions will mate every 10-20 minutes for three days.

We also saw a jackal, the first that we've seen.  It looks like a fox.  Bob and Marion saw them in the safari that they took awaiting our return from Kili.

This hotel is really neat, built onto the rim of the crater, all ivy covered stone.  At 7pm last night we watched a Masai dance before having dinner.  Today we head down to the caldera for the day; tomorrow we head for Arusha and our flights home.  B&M go to Zanzibar.

This is one amazing experience.  If I did it again, I'd invest in a REALLY big fixed focal length lens or rent one.  My 28-300 is great but there are better lenses ...

Onward !
