Mar 2/3 - 400k

Jerry headed to Tavares early and stayed overnight. Today after the ride he was heading to Sarasota.

I left here close to 3am for the ride starting at 5. It looked like it could be cool so I wore my heavy jacket. That was a good thing. It got quite cold.

The winds were gusty and never seemingly at our tail. They were so gusty that I had gravely eyes after the ride. They were so gusty that we were slow ... finishing up at 2:30 am. Last year was longer on this route but that was a preride.

Looking back at earlier years my best time was 17:25 vs this year at 21:30.

My butt held up with the new saddle. A ride with climbing helps as I'm out of the saddle a lot.

I showered and snoozed in Jerry's room before heading back. I stopped again and closed my eyes for 15 minutes - as much for the gravely as anything else.

Now I have to consider next weekend. I haven't decided yet about the 1000k in NC.

Onward !
