May 27-29 - and onward

Time is still flying.  I wish that it would slow down !

Let's see ...

27th, Sunday, Mass in the morning then finish getting the bike ready (cleanup from the prior day) and replacing brakes, organize and pack.  I'll be gone for more than a week and have a "little" bike ride in that time.

28th, drive to Town of Blue Mountains to Kelly's farm (the Haas farm to be precise).  What a great place.  They've owned it for five years and Kelly lived at the farm last winter.  She retired last year.  They've decided to tear down and rebuild ... perhaps that means that John won't retire anytime soon ?  Kelly, Tracy, my Uncle Rogers and Cooper -- their 2 year old golden -- were great company.  I don't think that I've seen my uncle since my Aunt Joan passed away in 2000; a long time.  He lives in Mexico now.

Cassie and Cooper got along famously.  Cassie might have been intimidated by Bobbie's dog (a newfie) but not Cooper.  He's heavier but the two of them did a lot of romping and ball chasing.  Naturally Cassie is faster but Cooper figured that out quickly and would let her fetch the ball, drop it and then he'd get it.  Let the woman do the work ...

We had a great visit and a wonderful dinner and some wine :).  We stayed overnight and when I woke up at 4am, decided to hit the road.  We came in two cars ... Sandy went for a walk with Kelly and the dogs before heading back north.

29th, on to Reading PA.  I should have listened to Waze, which wanted to take me over the Peace Bridge.  Instead I went my normal way and sat for one hour on Grand Island in traffic that barely moved.  Something was broken down on one of the bridge spans and four lanes of stopped traffic were merging into one.  It was a disaster.  Later I'd forgotten that one doesn't want to use 61 north of I78 ... small towns, tons of lights.  Next time I'll use Waze.

Sara, Esther and the kids went to the pool shortly after I arrived, so I was able to get caught up with the latest rerouting for the upcoming ride.  Speaking of disasters, the flooding in the Baltimore area is real, not just an inconvenience like Grand Island.  It looks like we could have four days of rain.  It'll be a soggy ride.

Matthew and Zoe greeted me like Cassie does !  They'd been primed for my visit.  Matthew was looking for Nana ... I think that the cats were looking for Cassie :).

Today I'll hit the road for Leesburg VA and then I'm helping with check-in.  Tomorrow at 5am we ride.

I've setup a tracking page for anyone who wants to register -- https://spotwalla.com/locationViewer.php?id=545

Onward !
