Sep 29 - hanging out

I put my bike together, doing a thorough job including application of grease to headset bearings and various threads. It looks none the worse for wear / travel. I still have to get drop bag organized etc as that must be turned in mid day today, Sunday.

I tried and tried to get the Garmin working. Although the map is showing up properly, it seems that searching for a destination is only picking up base map. So, for instance, j can find Perth but not an address. I can work out a latitude & longitude and it will navigate, but that's a pain. As a result, sandy is going to have to use google maps or Waze.

We walked and walked, almost 9 miles total, to the get together at the Windsor hotel and then dinner and back to our hotel. Perth is beautiful from South Perth, looking across the Swan River. There were no black swans, alas, the origin of the river's name.

Internet is down in the hotel so I'm forced into paying the Verizon Travel Pass. It's only $10 per day but that starts to add up. I had to do some work on the ridewithgps files and quickly blew through the 0.5gb daily high speed limit. Grrr.

Today - ride checkin, visit the Kav's.

Tomorrow am @ 5, roll out - which means leaving here about 4:15.
