Aug 1 - Deck Railings

I worked at the deck railings, sanding and painting.  I had used the power washer on them a few days ago.  Some of the railings are in rough shape with dry rot, which is surprising.  At some point I will either have to do selective replacement or redo the entire thing, retaining the glass, of course.  I hadn't expected dry (or wet) rot with cedar.  They just don't make trees like they used to.

Interspersed in there I did a bit of tidy-up but Sandy was doing the lioness's share, keeping the washing machine, dryer and clothesline busy.  I think that she's got the upstairs bedrooms cleaned but there are five beds in the basement bedroom.

We went to Tornados with Jason, Lorraine & Kim for dinner.  The last time there was many many years ago with my Uncle Phil & Aunt Ruth ... bingo, found it on Quicken - 2004, July 9.  Just over 15 years.  Time flies.

Ok, while I'm at it - when was my septic tank last pumped ... Sept 17, 2012, almost 7 years.  That's about right.  It's due for cleaning and I talked to Nathon Cullin yesterday about coming in September.  Perfect.  Now I just have to remember to call him !  I was thinking that we would do this next week but he's pretty busy so September will have to do.  Jason said that Nathon had recommended  7 years.

Today - pack and off to South Baymouth, Manitoulin Island.  Tomorrow 4am - start the 1000k.

Onward !
