Dec 10-14 - on the road, then off

Dec 10 & 11 were about driving.  The 10th was our longest day, getting to Beckley WV.  We had a backup plan to stop 1/2 hour short of that but were making good time.  On the 11th we had an approx 8 hour drive to Brantford, now somewhat of a tradition, a visit with the Davies before striking for the cottage.  As usual, I'd setup a dentist appointment in Oakville the next morning; also somewhat of a tradition, sorry to say.  I've got another couple of temporary crowns ... just three more to go and then I'll be King !

Sandy also had a checkup and she needs work.  She's coming back with me on the 19th to do prep work on a crown and then we'll be back on the 24th for installation.  She had a tooth that was close to having a "catastrophic failure" due to a major separating crack.  A CF results in an implant; much better to fix it now.

So we'll be bopping back and forth this season.

There wasn't much snow here, probably as little as we've seen.  We received a few more inches overnight after we arrived and I gave the snowblower some exercise.

Arriving on Thursday, Friday saw the aforementioned snowblowing, installation of a new thermostat, a trip into town for the mail, and general get the place in shape.  The only discernible issue was pretty minor - the dusk-to-dawn timer on the Christmas lights had died.  It sees year round use.  Tell me that these things die on a random basis - please tell me - the same unit in Florida also died this year, just a few miles away from one another.  These are "smart" timers.  Does China really pre-program them to die on a timetable ?

On Saturday we made the rounds in Sudbury - Canadian Tire, Costco, Independent Store x 2, bulk barn.  That made a dent in the bank account.

Today I will head into Britt for Mass.  I'm doing some cleanup RUSA and RO things, of course, and answering tons of emails.  Par for the course, it's what I signed up for.

Onward !
