Fascinating. Hot, Hot, Hot. We did a full day temples tour and were burned out by carving overload and the heat of the sun. On day two, we took a boat ride to the huge inland lake, the most fascinating part of that tour being walking through a local market - dirt path, wriggling fish, chopping up meat and fish, customers handling raw meat, flies everywhere ... it went on and on and on. More overload. I've got some good pictures that I need to upload at some point.
We then flew back to our Bangkok "home". Even though we could have saved ourselves a couple of nights accommodation expense, it was a lot easier to simply walk out and walk back in. I'd told the front desk that we were going to be away so that they didn't think that we were MIA !
Coming back into Thailand, we went through a coronavirus gauntlet, infrared temp scan, line of nurses, info card with reporting info. It's not only China that has geared up to prevent the spread. I hear that Thailand is up to 35 cases now, out of 70 million people or 0.00005 %. Even China, with 60,000+ cases = 0.006% overall. That said, some estimates that I've seen of actual infections are at least 10 times the reported, since many can be mild. That expansion of the denominator means that the survival rate is very high. Think about 1500 dead out of 600,000 cases. The flu has a higher death rate. Whatever.
A few more days here and we head home. We're ready.
