Apr 26 - Epcot

It's been a while.  It's lost some magic.

We left here at noon and arrived at Epcot around 1:30.  The first thing that we noticed was that they were parking people in every 2nd spot.  Interesting.  We didn't realize until we left that they then work their way back through the parking lots filling in the blank spots.  That way the cars are physically distanced on arrival :).

Temperature check, mask reminders, blue dots on the floors; there were covid reminders everywhere.  Epcot wasn't busy.  People were spaced out.

We took in a few things - the new Canada movie (ok, could have used a little humour), Figment, The Land, another movie in that pavilion; all very spaced out, only a handful of people in the movies.  Some restaurants are closed; all staff are American (kind of a disappointment at the Moroccan restaurant Spice Road Table), at the Canada pavilion, playing on plant pots and garbage cans outside the Canada pavilion etc.  Nothing interesting was on at the band shell (nor did we expect anything).  Dinner was a disappointment - the naan bread was bland, the calamari over breaded and flowing in oil, the deep fried cauliflower and lamb thingy's were ok.  Our server didn't know which wines were white.  SRT is a restaurant that we've been to a number of times but wouldn't go back. We had a drink in The Land; the restaurant on the ground floor was maybe 10% open.

Disney is trying its best but with Epcot, the lack of foreign workers in the World Showcase and all the construction & closures makes it a tough sell.  We don't regret going but it's a step down from what we've always come to expect.  We'll head back to Disney in a week or so to see what's happening at Animal Kingdom.
