Jul 8-Jul 28 - There and back again

We flew back to NA on July 11 and here we are in the UK on the 28th.

In the meantime the kids and grandkids came to the cottage for a week, I had my annual roads board meeting, I dealt with a zillion emails and even squeezed in a 200k out of the cottage.

The gang was short a few - no sign of Sara, Lauren or Jesse. The new dog on the block - Dakota - got along with Cassie and Chili. Cassie is back with David & Vanda.

On the way south, we stopped at Starbucks and I promptly poured part of my grande cap onto Sandy. Her white sweater is now with Vanda & the cleaners.  The pants, well, she just kept them on. The coffee didn't show … much.

The flight was an hour or so leaving but it's a 6-hour hop. Luggage came out quickly, the car rental procedure is now a shuttle bus vs a long walk, and we were settled in our Renault and heading north.

With our destination of Scrabness on the 29th, we made Carlisle on the 28th. We've booked the ferry to Stromness on Saturday which necessitated bookings for Friday and Saturday. Carlisle we did on the fly.

How can it possibly be a 1.9 km drive from the front of the hotel to the parking lot at the back?  That's a story in itself.

Orkneys ho!
