I have to start off with something that happened today ... I was getting my breakfast and spotted a large bullfrog on the kitchen floor. Huh ? Where did that come from ? I haven't even opened any doors yet so it must have come in last night with Abby ? before ? Where's it been hiding ?
When I think of the possibilities, a frog is probably the least of my worries -- raccoons, squirrels, bobcats, birds, snakes ... I'll takes frogs.
He/She was easy to catch and I put it out the back. No, I didn't fry 'em up for breakfast !
Perhaps it was a prince or princess in disguise ? It didn't say anything and I didn't ask, nor did I kiss it !
--------
Back to yesterday -- a quiet day, we did not go boating, as I think I already mentioned. Sandy did her grocery shopping and then some cooking -- banana bread, snacks. I ... what did I do ... cleaned the den to make room for guests, got organized for today's ride, and not much more to show for the day.
Jeffrey closed on his new house -- quite exciting for him and Sara. They did their walk-through and found that they had "forgotten" to include the fridge ! The fridge was not included in the total payment either but he managed to swing a deal with them to get it for much less than retail, because a) he didn't have that much cash and b) nor could they accept that much cash (i.e. non-certified check) at closing. We'll see the house in a few weeks as we travel north. They'll be moving this coming weekend.
I heard from Carol while Sandy was out and they're all organized (or will be) to be here Saturday afternoon. Sheryl arrives this evening -- Sandy will pick her up at the Orlando/Sanford airport, which is closer than Orlando International.
I heard from Judith late yesterday that she's going to ride, so I'll have company today. That makes it a little more complicated, but I'll manage. She's meeting me at the parking lot at the foot of Flagler St. at 6:45 which means that I have to leave here around 6:30 on my bike. We check in at the 7-11 Control very close to there and then we're off -- 124.6 miles according to the paperwork. I should probably be more social in my riding habits but that takes more effort and coordination.
I've decided to ride the "hummer" today since there is so much of that bumpy road. I was thinking 12-13 miles each way but then checked the cue sheet and realized that it's more like 23 miles each way. That's a lot of bouncing, so the hummer, with its wider tires, will be more comfortable. The ride is almost completely flat so the extra weight does not mean extra work.
That's it. I've got to get my bike organized and get dressed, ready to leave here in about 1/2 hour. It will still be partly dark, but the sky will lighten quickly after that. I also have to stop at the bank on the way to use the ATM.
Onward ...
