Mar 22 - not close, no cigar

I've got a few check engine codes showing up on the X5 that produce nasty messages on the display, have no effect on operation and go away shortly afterwards.  I've done some research on the codes and yesterday tackled the easiest possible solution, replace air filter (which was very dirty) and clean MAF.  I'm sure that the car was happier but the nasty message still shows up.  Therefore, no cigar.

I'm reluctant to take it in for service because I know that it will a) take a few days and b) won't be cheap.  Coincidentally I also received a recall notice on the X5 so it may be hard to avoid.  I'll have to look that one up to see what it is.

I've also got recall notices outstanding on the 2001 M5 and Sandy's 2002 3-series.  Both of those were for air bags potentially producing shrapnel.  That would be fun.

The M5 hasn't been in for service in forever, since I've done whatever is necessary and of course a recall can only be done by the dealer.

Enough about cars ...

Jim and Sheryl came over yesterday and took the trailer with them, Spyder and bicycles included.  Their plan is to head north tomorrow a.m.  I can't say that I'm jealous as I know what weather is like up north (our cottage) during April.  Cold  & rainy come to mind, but no bugs yet, still ice on the lake.

Alister, Carol and Michael are planning on arriving here on Saturday and then heading north on Tuesday.  The weather looks good for a boat ride somewhere in there.

Eric is supposed to be here today but no-show so far.  The weather isn't exactly conducive, so we'll see.  The wind is supposed to be hitting 30 mph today with a small craft advisory running into Saturday a.m.

Onward ...
