Mar 27-30 - my how the days fly by

On the 27th, I left early to pick up Kathy at the airport.  Alister was up but I didn't see Carol that morning.  Kathy's flight was on time and so was I, in spite of a closure of part of 528 which forced me to use SR 50 for part of the way.

Once home, we tackled assembling her bike, which has S&S couplers like mine.  That took an hour or more and we then had a quick lunch and headed out for a trial run.  Given that it was after 1pm, we rode over the causeway to Beachside and south in the Canaveral National Seashore park.  We took the diversions at Turtle Mound and Eldora House, turned around at the end and headed north.  To extend the ride  little, we rode to Flagler and crossed back at the North Causeway.

It's a nice ride, clocking in a little less than 40 miles, which makes me wonder if I could extend it perhaps west along Pioneer Trail and back to make it a full 100k Populaire ... hmmm.

On the 28th, we did my Titusville ride.  Kathy found US 1 boring, which it is, and struggled a bit as she'd not been riding since last year and was also having foot problems.  The foot problems got worse and a couple of times she stretched out on the ground with her feet in the air.  It's a combination of arthritis and hot foot.  That continued on the 29th as we did the Flagler Beach loop ... she'll have to take it easy going north by herself with lots of stops.

We rode to Flagler Beach in spite of the south wind.  After a wonderful ride north, we had a stiff wind -- apparently up to 25 mph -- in our faces on the way south.  We used John Anderson through Ormond Beach and suffered a little less, but suffer we did.  At the end we stopped at the DQ; we had earned it.

Salmon burgers the first night; SYC the second (our "usual" Wednesday outing) and Pompano last night, Kathy fits right in basically liking all the same foods.

Today she will do a short trial run with her bike loaded up and intends to head north tomorrow a.m. on her adventure.

Onward indeed !
