My call to Deb Banks on Wednesday was with our "land line". It has a loud ground hum. I should really talk to Bell about that as it almost makes the line useless. The calls that I had yesterday with Lois and Nigel were much better; those were placed using cellular WiFi calling. The only time that it had a problem was when Sandy got going on the iPad. She tends to watch a lot of videos.
1:30 with Deb + 0:45 with Lois + 1:40 with Nigel ... this is adding up. I've got Paul, John Lee and Susan today and then I'm finished. It may also finish me !
I put the boat in yesterday, the Whaler that is. Cassie and I took it to the landing, backed the trailer into the water, started the motor just to ensure that it was going to start before launching the boat, launched the boat, parked the car and trailer and then boated home.
Once home, I rode my bike to the car and drove back. Since I don't have a dog carrier, Cassie didn't make that trip. Since the bugs are totally awful, I simply rode in jeans, tshirt, cap and bug jacket. I wore my running shoes that are a little difficult on those small pedals but it's a short distance.
Later in the day we went for a short boat ride. The cottage on the point still lacks shingles although there is ice and water shield in place. At a distance I thought that they had a metal roof. It looks pretty much closed in and ready for siding and roofing; I have no idea what's happening inside. There's nowhere near as much progress as I'd expected.
Cassie and I went into town to pick up and drop off mail. Predictably, the first mail of the season has a bill for snowplowing our driveway -- 11x30 -- and the annual dump letter. I wrote cheques for both of them and will likely have a new dump key in a week.
My bike has a click that is getting louder. I've got to figure out what it is. It happens on left and right pedal strokes. So far I haven't been able to make it click on the bike stand ... perhaps I'll mount it on the trainer and Sandy can get her ear down there and detect the source of the sound.
Jason and Lorraine arrived late afternoon and came over for a glass of wine and chat. Not long afterwards, I had my scheduled call with Nigel. I could hear the three of them chatting and then eventually Jason left; a while later Lorraine and we had a very late dinner once I was off the phone.
David and Vanda are coming up but we don't know when. Next door, Kim, Kyle and Gavin are arriving today and I believe that Kim is bringing a friend (I forget where that conversation ended up) and Gavin will be up with Amanda.
Mike and Jill have a new baby; something like 10 days ago, so their life is hopping.
Onward ? We shall see.
