May 9 - on the water

That was the main event on Tuesday, out in the boat.  With no restaurants open, we did not stop for lunch.  We did, however, head out to the ocean and cruised a bit on a day that was as calm as we had seen it in a long time.  There were many schools of small fish disturbing the surface and we did see, for a second, a sizable turtle.

It's too difficult for Marda to get out at the island but we did let Cassie do her thing for a while.  Run, run, run ... she has so much fun.

On the way back, we could see this pillar of smoke and went around by the south causeway to see if we could see the source.  We were happy to see that it wasn't our place or the yacht club !  Later on Marda found the article online that attributed it to a brush fire that caught a pile of railroad ties.  That accounted for the black smoke !  Helicopters were circling most of the afternoon.

Sandy picked up tuna for dinner; always a treat.  I don't know if we'll have any more before heading north.  We have a couple of main courses in the freezer; some west coast salmon and pork chops.  We have five more dinners, at least one of which will be at the yacht club.

The weather is beautiful.  It's going to be hard to leave but onward we must go !
