Jun 3/4 - sun and rain

On the sunny day I went for a bike ride, north into a headwind and then south into a headwind .. go figure.  It was interesting to see progress on 69 in the French River area.  Fall of 2020 that section is supposed to open.  I wonder if I'll live long enough to see the road "twinned" all the way from Parry Sound to Sudbury ?  It's agonizingly slow.

On the not-so-sunny day we went to Barrie to have lunch with Stef, Aaron, Kylie, Lauren, David, Vanda, John and Cheryl to celebrate Kylie's graduation.  She's spending a little time in Barrie now and then heading back to Hamilton.  In the Fall she goes to Australia to work as an au pair for a year.  We hope to get to Oz while she's there.

There was a break in the rain while we were in Sudbury but it was raining once we got back home.  It's raining now.

We stopped at Costco on the way out of Barrie and, among other things, I picked up some fresh packed pickerel (walleye).  We had some for dinner and the rest will be frozen for another day.

When I turn on the barbecue it's almost instantly mobbed by mosquitoes, hundreds of mosquitoes.  Although the grill is by the kitchen door, I went in and out the back door to minimize the ingress of critters.

Looking out the kitchen door right now, I can see that there are many mosquitoes around the Mega Catch.  No doubt it's helping, which is mind boggling -- could the critter population be any worse ?  The rain, of course, isn't helping.  They love this wet and cool.

The indoor population is way down.  I got one last night in the bedroom before turning out the light and one this a.m. here in the kitchen.  There were a few around us at dinner, having come in as we unloaded and as I went in and out with grilling.  There were none overnight (I can tell) and I'm not swatting them now.  That's a far cry from yesterday when I killed no fewer than 3 dozen sitting here at the kitchen counter.

I've got a fire on as it's only 69F inside.

Onward ...
