I love this time of year. 4:30 a.m. and the sky is getting light. We forget to have dinner until later.
The Harbor Freight battery operated bug zappers are in constant use, by me. I've got one in the den, here on the kitchen counter, in my work room and in the games/tv room downstairs. Basically anywhere that I might sit and have a mosquito hunt me down. The other handy item for nailing these critters at this time of day is a flashlight. With the mottled colour of our tiles, they disappear against the background, but not so if you can shine the flashlight on them and then ZAP.
ZAP ... just got another one that honed in on my legs. I've come to the conclusion that the cloud that we had at one point was as a result of a mosquito laying eggs in the sump pump. That's the only standing water in the house, as far as I know. Now we have the occasional one and I'm sure that they've come in with us or more likely Cassie.
My bug jacket got some use yesterday as I picked up the several piles of leaves and branches in the yard, using the 4-wheeler and trailer. Sandy got busy later in the day and created another couple of piles which I will get to today or tomorrow.
Now that I have gas, I did some more weed whacking and Cassie and I took a tour over to the Lodge. There's still no progress at the new house - no one working - which I find very odd. There are a couple of boats in the water at the Lodge but the docks aren't in place yet and I saw no signs of activity.
The new internet service is exactly as advertised, i.e. 25 mbit. It's not cable but it is a delightful difference compared to what we had before. Our quota is now 100gb vs 40gb before, but of course with the increased bandwidth, it will go just as fast. If you can't stream, you don't stream, therefore you use fewer gb over the course of a month. We'll see how it goes ...
So the good news is that I typed this blog and only saw and got one mosquito. Being the only lights on in the house, they come to me quickly. Only one is good.
Onward !
