Sep 6 - should we be packing ?

That's the big question. Are we going to be rushing out of here in a couple of days to survey damage and secure our Florida house ?  I hope not but Irma looks like it's going to either head mid state or up the east coast, not off to the Keys.  Ugh.  There's nothing that we can do other than watch.

At least we're not on the barrier island !  Evacuations are underway in South Florida.

So ... I did get some things done yesterday.  I met Pat on the road and we took down a few trees; three as I recall.  We're going back out again today, weather permitting.  Yesterday was cut short by a "boom" ... and then the rain came.  It rained until early afternoon and then cleared, sunny, glass-calm lake, simply beautiful.  Cassie swam; Sandy went out in the Kayak; Cassie and I went for a boat ride.

I've been thinking about what needs to be done here to clear out in a hurry.  Wrapping the gazebo is a time consuming exercise and I think that I'll start that today or perhaps I should wait to see where Irma is heading ?  The darn trouble is that I'm leaving tomorrow a.m. to head to Windsor and that consumes Friday, Saturday, Sunday.  By then we're either rushing around getting ready or breathing a sign of relief.  There's not much in between.

Big items -- wrap gazebo, pull out Whaler ... what else, have to think on that.  There are lots of things to do in the house and outside and I should probably putter around and get a few things ready.  Actually packing doesn't take too long ... trailer, bikes, bike stuff, clothing etc.

Ugh.  Ugh.

Oh yes, I changed the oil in the X5.  It was a couple of hundred miles overdue.  I should have changed the oil in Sandy's car and will if I get a chance, but it's not an urgent thing to do before we leave.  It could wait until Spring.

Onward ?  I'm wondering if I should really go to Windsor but unless I'm actually doing stuff and packing, there's no point in changing plans.  Sandy is going to Toronto for the day tomorrow to get her hair done.

Yes, Onward.
