Sep 7-9 - off to Windsor

On the 7th, Pat Martin and I cut some trees and I got organized to go to Windsor.  It's a 7+ hour drive once you stop for gas etc. so that took much of my day on the 8th.  Once here, I had a beer with Dick, Carey and Martin and then we headed to dinner that was a 15 minute drive away.

Yesterday, the 9th, was all about the 200k Tour d'Essex.  It's a big loop through Essex county, flat as a pancake, windy as heck.  A large group of riders -- perhaps 25 ? - set out and soon broke up into the fast and slow pelatons.  Rolling into the lunch control, I was persuaded to sit down for a meal and was hoping that would be quick.  Nope.  The waitress moved us from our table for four to a table for 10 and guess what happens when you've got 10 people.  Yes, it took 1.5 hours.  Oh well.

We finished up at 5:45 from our 7am start, no world records here !

By the time I got back to the hotel, about a 15 minute drive from the ride start in Tecumseh, I had time to shower and change and head to dinner.  Dinner was well attended at a restaurant on the 14th floor overlooking the river and Detroit.  Appropriately named Fourteen, the food was good but the service was slow.  I wasn't back to the hotel until around 11.  Ugh.

This morning I've got Mass shortly and then group breakfast at 9; meeting at 10; then head back to the cottage, hopefully in time for dinner.

In the meantime, the only thing on CNN is Irma; nothing else.  The eye is getting close to the Keys.  Will it stay off the west coast of Florida and spare us the worst ?  Time will tell.

Onward !
