Aug 14-16 - moving on up

Xplornet cancellation is underway. They have sent me a box, yet to be received, for parts that they want back. I expect that's the modem and the LNB (although it's not called an LNB) from the dish. Apparently the box comes with instructions. Fellow on the phone said that I have 75 days to return. Email confirmation says 30. Ho figure.

The dish arm can be used for the upcoming Starlink mount, vs the salt bags holding it in place now :).

Continuing the process, I ordered an Ooma phone. It's a voip service. Once I test that out, I'll port the 3206 number from Bell and cancel Bell. If Ooma works well, I'll do the same in the US although the US Vonage number is relatively inexpensive.   Our US 688 number isn't used very much anymore. The other approach would be to finally cancel that number.

I was on the phone for 1.5-2 hours last night using WiFi calling with my cell phone. It was flawless, as far as I could tell. I'm pretty impressed by Elon and his engineers.

I figured that it was time to check out the Merc 25. It would start with QuickStart but not stay running. There's some fuel issue whether carb or fuel line. It would run longer if I filled the filter with gas but not sure if it's pulling enough gas from the tank. I tied it down and Mike has it now. I told him that I'm looking for a boat to go with the motor.

Backing up. We went to Kelly's for Bobbie's celebration of life. We were supposed to take Anne but there was a change of plan. We were supposed to stay with Michael but there was a potential Covid exposure change of plan then confirmed false alarm so we did after all. We had a thoroughly enjoyable dinner through breakfast at their house in Collingwood.

On the way to Michael's after Bobbie's event, we swung by Angela and Russ's place and surprised them. They live one block from Michael. We hadn't seen them for a few years. We simply chatted outside. This covid stuff keeps everyone on their toes.

Sara is now triple vaxxed per CDC guidelines. She also had a clean scan. All's good for now.

Sandy left for Toronto yesterday and will be back tonight. Dentist, Joyce and St Lawrence Market are on the agenda.  Her wallet is here so I don't know how that affects her agenda.

David & Vanda arrive tonight. Stef may arrive tomorrow. I leave tomorrow. Jeffrey arrives on Thursday. Kylie arrives on Friday. Stef leaves for the weekend on Friday or Saturday and then returns. Kylie leaves and then Aaron and Lauren arrive on Monday.  I'll be back on Monday.  Jeffrey leaves Thursday or Friday then all starts to wind down. Whew.

I'm off tomorrow to support my little gang of Manitoulin riders. I will likely get less sleep than them. Oh well. I'd rather be riding. I should have taken up the offer from Pete and Marcia.

Onward.
