February 25th -- quiet day

Now we're getting Florida weather -- in the upper 70's today but still very windy -- 15+mph from the SE. I started to put up a clothesline -- it's not home without a clothesline -- and took a short ride.

We picked up Abby at the sitters and she was none the worse for wear. One of the dogs, however, connected with me -- bouncing up and bumping its head with my forehead -- breaking the skin and giving me a nice bruise.

Kelly has quite the setup -- lots of dogs inside, her livingroom divided up into little rooms for dogs (even furniture in the rooms) and a huge fenced-yard. Abby was wearing one of those no-bark collars -- apparently she stood for an hour at the fence outside barking at the cows that were only a few feet away. Finally Kelly had to put the collar on her and one beep reminded her of the invisible fence in Philly and she stopped barking.

Abby, being the people dog that she is, slept on the floor at Kelly's foot -- what a charmer. Of course she welcomed us, then as we walked around she lied down in front of the door -- she was not letting us leave without her.

Sandy went to run some errands while I went for a ride. With the wind coming out of the south for the most part, I went down US1. I turned around at the radar installation -- 25 miles -- on Merritt Island.

Nutrition -- 1 and a bit bottles of water (not enough); 1 mini cliff bar; 2 gels

Ride stats -- 50 miles; 16.4 mph
