June 14 -- action on the lake

We're on the verge of summer -- another hot day and a lot of "action" on the lake ...

1) water temperature is just under 78 and glassy calm
2) air temp was in the high 80s today
3) Troops are in with kids it seems, lots of swimming activity over there
4) Reddicks (sp?) are in
5) Donny is in with 3 friends to fish (and drink) -- they went fishing and then came back within 1/2 hour -- perhaps the bugs were out and they'd rather drink than have the bugs drink their blood ?
6) Jimmy stopped by and gave us a container of his Spring 2007 Maple Syrup ... yummy

I went for a bike ride around 6:45 and by the time I was coming back from Highway 69 I was wishing that I could call for a SAG van. The pollen was so thick that there were times when I could not see the road ahead -- it was like a fog. I guess that the pine trees produce pollen overnight and since there was a breeze on the road it was coming out of the trees. I've never seen anything like it -- a wind gust would shake a pine tree and it was like a dense fog was coming out of the tree. Anyway, although I had intended to go for a longer ride this a.m. my throat was raw; my sinuses were burning and I was practically wheezing with the pollen in my respiratory system. The air was clearer by the time I got back to the ESS Narrows and Osprey Road but I had mentally already checked out.

I was back a little after 9am and spent the rest of the day working on the basement. I finished up the bedroom -- that leaves the games room and the darkroom -- two rooms that don't have closets so they will have less cutting, thank goodness. I've only got 12 of the DRIcore left that Sandy brought back yesterday and 3 sheets of plywood -- time for more supplies. I'll put the rest of the DRIcore down tomorrow, either in the games room or the darkroom -- have not decided yet and then start working on the railings for the stairs.

Sandy went into town to pick up mail and 4 more pounds of 1.25" screws -- I've gone through 6 pounds already screwing the plywood down to the DRIcore. I am also putting down subfloor PL400 glue which helps eliminate the possibility of any squeeks. The glue is probably overkill ... but impossible to change my mind and do it later, so ...

By 5:30 I was finished downstairs and had cleaned up the scattered tools - so it was time to take Abby over to the lodge to visit Maddie -- she had a great time and I visited with Bruce and Jan -- we had dinner there last night but could not bring Abby because Maddie was "under the weather". It looked like some deer flies had bitten her around the eyes and they were swollen last night.

We had Marlin for dinner -- probably the first time we've tried this fish. It was like swordfish only more moist.

I'm probably forgetting something but it's 8:42 -- only 18 minutes until bedtime ...

g'night.
