June 13 -- north for summer ?

It's doing it again -- 89 here and 82 in New Smyrna Beach -- who says we come up here to avoid the heat !! The good news though is that the heat is taking care of the black flies and mosquitoes. Once it gets hot the mosquitoes only come out in the early morning and at dusk -- they don't like the heat. If it stays really hot and dry they disappear entirely -- that happened the year that we rebuilt up here.

I'm working on the basement again -- this a.m. I cleared the bedroom and painted that floor and part of the games room floor -- from this point forward I'll be shuffling stuff around as I finish off the subfloor and start to lay tile. Once the tiles are down then boxes can be unpacked and contents moved to their final resting place ... as long as I'm not in my final resting place beforehand !

I did get in a short bike ride to/from 69 between 10 and noon. When I got back from the ride I wet a paper towel and wiped my face because it was so hot and it came away yellow -- remember yesterday's picture of the yellow pollen ? It isn't just in the water. It makes you wonder how your lungs handle all that stuff.

My objective was to paint then give it a couple of hours to dry while I rode my bike ... well that has taken place and now I'm laying DRIcore in the bedroom and as far as I can get into the games room (2/3 of the room is full of "stuff").

Sandy went into Sudbury to a) return the sample tile that she brought back last week; b) pick up some more DRIcore; c) pick up some more groceries. She will be back shortly and then we'll get ready to go over to the Lodge for dinner. I launched the boat a little while ago and filled up the gas tank -- the boat had been put in the boathouse for the weekend.
