Oct 4-5 - hot and wet

Well, it's gone from humid to wet -- I guess that is an extreme form of humidity, right ?

Back to yesterday -- I went for a ride just before 8am and got back around 10:30. It was intended to be a short ride but it turned out to be longer than I had expected -- at my 25 mile turnaround point my right knee really started to hurt and I nursed it all the way back home. It, and my right ankle, were hurting so much that it hurt to even move them through the pedaling arc with my left leg doing most of the work. I don't know if I was pinching a nerve or what -- it's feeling better today but still twinges. I was wearing my new shoes ... not sure if that had an impact. Next time out I'll revert to the old shoes to see if that makes any difference.

We did not do much of anything else yesterday -- some puttering in the garage for me; Sandy finally got some use out of the sewing machine that we brought down here as she tinkered with curtains. All right, I confess that I also had a snooze during the afternoon.

Angelika called when I was riding to say that her flight was running about 2 hours late so her 3pm arrival turned out to be more like 5:30. She called from Orlando around 4pm to say that she had landed, rented the car and was on the way.

Dinner ... tuna (one of my favorites) along with rice, a major staple for us, and green beans. We didn't eat until late -- probably 8:30 -- so by the time we were finished I was finished. Sandy and Angelika stayed up and chatted and I hit the sack around 9:30.

Today -- rain, rain and more rain. I went over to BofA to finish setting up the account that I started online -- in 5 minutes I accomplished more than lots of time online, 3 weeks of waiting and several 800 number calls were unable to do ... so much for the ease of online access. I think that there are so many government restrictions on the banking system meant to thwart money-launderers that they make it difficult to do things "annonymously".

I then went to the license bureau to switch the plate from the old utility trailer to the new box trailer -- painless except for the payment of Florida sales tax, which of course I only delayed because I didn't have to pay anything in Georgia when I purchased the trailer.

Meanwhile, Sandy, Angelika and Abby went out in the car -- to return the sample tile that Sandy had borrowed from the tile place and to drive on the beach. Well, lo and behold, they have implemented or are now enforcing new rules -- you cannot even take your dog on the beach inside your car ... duh. It seems that someone let their dog roast to death while they were on the beach ... Anyway, while they were walking a couple of blocks "downtown" they got soaked by a sudden downpour. The car windows were open for Abby ... so ... After that fun ride they went to the fish store to pick up dinner -- shrimp for this evening.

We were originally planning on going boating today but we will probably leave that until tomorrow since we do not get very many breaks between showers today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

That's it for now.
