Yes, I finally got out for a bike ride. I did my usual 70 miles and was chilled by the end. In the sun it was great; in the shade it was cool. I wore a long sleeved jersey over short sleeves and my vest. My trunk was warm but after a while your legs stiffen up if you are not wearing tights or leg-warmers. Having said that, more clothing makes for more work riding ... the only real solution is to go back to Florida !
It felt much warmer than mid 50's at the cottage. Out of any breeze it was warm ... warm enough to bring out the mosquitoes, surprise surprise ! Sandy worked in the garden, enjoying the autumn weather. Lauren and Abby played in a pile of leaves. Abby buried herself and Lauren would throw on additional leaves and then Abby would spring out and run around in circles. Trade the leaves for the white stuff and she does the same.
I copied some more of my Dad's movies, as I'm doing now. On the screen we have a St. Patrick's day parade -- a bunch of seniors in green riding three-wheeled bicycles following a green golf cart. The lady in the two-wheeled bicycle is having a hard time staying upright with all the balloons attached. Hmmm ... this is going to take a lot of editing. Prior to this there was about 1/2 hour of boats in the intracoastal waterway in Ft. Lauderdale or at least I'm assuming that's where they were. Dad would follow the pretty girls on the bow of the boat and then move onto the next boat ...
There is a very red sky this morning -- sailors take warning. It's supposed to rain today and the doppler shows it coming. The weather is warming up, thus the rain. After today though it is supposed to be great for the weekend -- no doubt that means that we'll be dealing with mosquitoes ... Thanksgiving Day mosquitoes ...
I heard back from Jason. He, Lorraine and Mike will be coming up from Friday night until Sunday night. My friend Alex is also coming on Friday but probably leaving on Monday. Alex and I will get in some duck hunting, and perhaps some fishing. I don't know yet whether Aaron and Kylie will be coming up for the weekend or spending the time with his dad in Toronto or London.
Koi ... we're now looking at Koi in a pond. I've always found that still pictures of uninteresting subjects are easier to flip through than movies -- just like it's easier to flip through a hundred emails than listen to ten voicemails. Thankfully the days of voicemail are largely over. Now voicemails are from friends and family; back then I would get voicemails that ran to three because the caller ran out of time after 5 minutes.
Our time here is short -- one month and we'll be going back to Florida ... then one month later we come back up here ... then one month later we go to Florida. It's hard to get bored !
I'll be going downstairs shortly to develop the two films that I shot. I'm waiting for 8am so that I can listen to music -- my workroom and the darkroom are under the master bedroom and Sandy is still in bed -- probably not asleep but still in bed.
Enough random thoughts ... and not interesting thoughts ... maybe I'll go and make chili ... that's on the menu for the weekend.
