Yes, I'm one day older. It had to be a shorter day than the one before though ... so am I really a day older or does a shorter day mean that I'm less than a day older ? I'm sure that the days are getting shorter, after all they take less time to go by ...
Let's see ... I worked on the ceiling, installing lights in the games room until I ran out of 14/2 wire. Sandy headed off to Sudbury for a physio appointment, taking with her my empty spool and a plan to visit Home Depot. Then I went over to help Bonnie with her computer, since she was not able to dial-up the evening before, after leaving here ... Naturally I checked all the things that I'd done, expecting it to be some complicated thing like problems with proxy server, IE not "automatically detecting settings" or some such thing, but it turned out that the message was really correct -- her USERID and PASSWORD did not exist on the domain ... somehow her dial-up password had been deleted or changed.
Back home, lunch, and off on the bike. The back of my neck is covered in bumps ... yes, black flies. There was not as much traffic on 69 as the prior week, but then again it wasn't a long weekend. It takes a hardy soul to brave the black flies, weather notwithstanding. I was back from my ride, saddle intact this time, at the same time as Sandy arrived home. She must have driven by on 522 while I was at the ESS Narrows loading my bike, we were that close together.
Later, we had pike for dinner, pike that I'd caught ice-fishing at Christmas. It was excellent ... I headed out to replenish the larder but have yet to catch anything this season. Perhaps I'll head out shortly. This time Abby didn't come with me and I sat in the middle of the buzz by myself. There must have been a thousand black flies around me, frustrated, no doubt, by my bug jacket. What I needed was a flame thrower ! or even a vacuum cleaner !
Before going fishing, and before dinner, I wired the three remaining lights. That only took a few minutes. Next up (ha, pun not intended) more tiles -- first the ones where the lights are and then the rest of that ceiling, less, of course, the three tiles where the furnace and dehumidifier vents will show.
That's it ... another day, a few more miles on my legs, a few more items stuck on the ceiling, more stuff in the fridge (Sandy), less stuff in the fridge (dinner), more miles on Sandy's car.
It's glassy calm out there and just under 50F. Perhaps the black flies will be calm this a.m. if I go out, but regardless, I have to take a bug jacket. I can hang ceiling tiles later. They won't go away. Once that room is finished I can start the bedroom ... and somewhere in here I have to do some trimming. I have it pretty well mapped out in my mind now -- the boxing in of the duct work and the window finishing. I'll go to HD tomorrow a.m. before Mass (in Sudbury) and a) pick up some more ceiling tiles and b) figure out how the furnace vents will come through the ceiling.
The lake water temperature is up -- 61.5F yesterday. Of course that is probably just the top few inches, but a vast improvement nonetheless. It's not quite swimming weather yet though ... Jason et al likes 70's ... I like 82+ ... that means that there may be one day per summer, or every other summer, where I can go swimming in the top 6 inches of the lake. We got spoiled by having a pool in Mississauga.
Where's that coin ... ceiling or fishing ... heads or tails ... tune in tomorrow ...
