May 23 - what's in a title ?

I came up blank this morning, so I'm admitting it. Progress ? yes. Fish ? no. Perhaps that would have been a good title ?

Most of my non-idle time yesterday (how's that for being non specific) was spent working on the basement ceiling. With the lights installed, I had to put up the six tiles with holes in them for the lights and then proceeded to put up the rest of the ceiling, minus the three tiles for vents and four tiles that are three inches wide that go at the front of the room. I'll do those when I do the vents. This is all in the games room. I love putting up suspended ceilings -- such a feeling of accomplishment in a short period of time. It does look good ... well, it does look like a suspended ceiling. There are many ceiling finishes that would look better, but for a basement this is quite functional.

Today I'll check out options for vents at HD ... I'll be leaving in a few minutes. Sandy also wants me to pickup a bag of peat moss ... hmmm ... don't think that I can since the entire back of the car will be filled with tiles and those bags of peat are huge. She'll have to do that tomorrow when she goes to Sudbury.

What else ? I helped Sandy for a bit, working up a section of the garden where she'll be planting tomatoes. I went fishing ... but still had no luck. I still-fished by the rock out from Caribou Creek (Jason knows where that is) and while I was there Dennis and Carl (from across the lake) came and put their anchor down almost at the mouth of the creek. They proceeded to haul in several fish, even taking a picture of one before letting it go. It must have been a large pickerel -- you're only allowed to keep one over 18". Well, perhaps next time out I'll try that spot.

Otherwise ... nothing. The weather was great; the bugs were dense. Bug jackets were the rule.

It's sunny, glassy calm and the thermometer reads 40F. It's supposed to hit the 60's and stay sunny. Today I should be going for a ride but by the time I get back from Sudbury it might be too late for a "real" ride. Anything shorter than 70 miles seems like a waste of time, or rather, not much fun. Once I get shorter than 70 miles then the bulk of my time is riding 522 which isn't fun. At 70 miles my time is equally split between 522 and 69. 522 at this time of year is bug-dodging and based on the itch that I can feel in my legs, my scalp, the back of my neck ... my dodging skills are not up to snuff.

Tomorrow I have to leave here by 4am to make a dentist appointment in Toronto, so don't expect too much blogging. I have a cleaning appointment at 8:30 and then a dentist appointment at 11. The appointment at 11 is to replace a couple of old fillings with caps, so it's a long one ... and of course I have to go down the week after for the actual caps to be cemented in place. Oh Joy. I hope to do some plumbing at Stef's tomorrow too, but that depends on them picking up the water softener and clearing the area to work. I'll check with them later today and see if they're ready for me.

It's 6:30 ... time to leave.
